OFFICER POSITION DESCRIPTIONS

Elections for the 2008-2009 officers will be held January 24. Any club member in good standing is eligible to run for an officer position. New officers assume their positions starting Spring quarter. Please contact current officers if you would like any additional information regarding their positions.


President
Presides over meetings, heads officer team meetings, contacts speakers and arranges labs, reserves rooms, works with the treasurer on determining funding needs, works with club advisor, corresponds with AAEP nationally, disseminates information to the student chapter from the national chapter, represents student chapter at AAEP national convention if possible, and coordinates AAEP convention attendance for third and fourth year students. MUST ATTEND SOURCE TRAINING IN THE FALL.

Plan on this being about a 5-10 hours a week responsibility to keep chapter active.


Vice President
Main Duty: To plan the annual Kentucky Trip that typically occurs the second or third week in May. In the past, we have visited with the veterinarians at a variety of breeding farms, Kesmarc, Rood and Riddle, Hagyard, and the Gluck Institute.

Additional Duties: Assist the other officers, especially the President, plan and execute meetings, organize the third year students to attend Opportunities in Equine Practice each September, and organize groups to help with AAEP functions.


Secretary
Duties: To keep minutes of all officers meetings and any business at general meetings, to send out all necessary correspondences to the club listserve and to manage the listserve, to keep track of meeting/event attendance of all members, to write and send thank you cards to all speakers, and to assist other officers as needed.


Treasurer
Responsiblities include:
  • Ordering food and beverages for all meetings.
  • Depositing funds
  • Writing checks for reimbursements
  • Attending SOURCE Treasurer training (yearly)
  • Applying for SOURCE operating and programming funds (bi-quarterly)
  • Submitting audits for SOURCE funding (quarterly)
  • Keep president informed of SOURCE deadlines

Historian
Duties: To maintain the club bulletin board in the basement of VTH and the club website (experience with websites is preferred). To assist as needed with any club activities.


Fundraisers (2)
Duties: To keep track of all items being sold by the club and to order new ones as needed, to plan and implement any other fundraising events, and to help other officers as needed.
